Ethical jewellery created with care

Here at Form Bespoke Jewellers, it is very important to us that we create ethical jewellery. We are proud of our fair creative processes and we want to provide you with the best quality craftsmanship. This is right down to the individual components that make up your jewellery piece.

As part of our bespoke service to you, we offer: conflict-free and child labour free diamonds and lab created diamonds, ethically sourced precious metals, and Fairtrade Gold.

Conflict-free diamonds

We are aware of the problem of conflict diamonds. Therefore, we have taken measures to guarantee that no conflict diamonds enter our supply chain or our bespoke jewellery.

Thanks to international cooperation between governments, the diamond industry, retail jewellers and non-government organisations (such as Global Witness and Partnership Africa Canada), vast improvements have been made in the fight against conflict diamonds.

To add to our sustainability and ethical jewellery offering, we also work with lab created diamonds.

The Kimberley Process

The World Diamond Council has worked successfully with the United Nations, governments and groups (such as Global Witness and Partnership Africa Canada) to introduce a system for the certification of the source of uncut diamonds. This helps to prevent the trade in conflict diamonds.

This system is known as the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS). It was formally adopted in November 2002 and came into operation on 1st January 2003.

The KPCS requires participating governments to ensure that each shipment of rough diamonds exported be in a secure container which is also accompanied by a uniquely numbered, government-validated certificate. This states that the diamonds are conflict-free!

Over 45 countries participate in the KPCS. They represent all the nations with significant involvement in the diamond trade. All 45 importing countries agree not to accept any rough diamonds without an approved Kimberley Process Certificate.

At Form Bespoke Jewellers, we have hand-picked all our suppliers with the acknowledgement that they are reputable and responsible companies. They, like us, support and believe in the KPCS.

Ethically-sourced precious metals

For jewellers who buy in finished jewellery, their sourcing options are from a wide range of international suppliers. This can make it a little tricky for them to trace the source of their precious metal. The UK hallmark guarantees the purity of the gold or platinum, but not the ethical sourcing or welfare of those involved in its creation.

Here at Form Bespoke Jewellers, we are proud to offer our customers ethically sourced precious metals. We work with a reputable precious metal supplier who offers a Chain-of-Custody Standard on 9ct and 18ct white and yellow gold, and platinum castings.

In 2012, the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) launched the Chain-of-Custody Standard for the precious metals supply chain. This standard is for responsibly sourced jewellery materials that are produced, processed and traded through the jewellery supply chain. Right from mine to retail.

The RJC website defines “responsibly sourced” as conflict-free as a minimum and responsibly produced at each step of the supply chain. This means that appropriate standards are adhered to for human rights, labour, environmental impact, and business ethics.

And don’t forget, we also offer Fairtrade Gold options on all our our bespoke jewellery.
